Whether your team consists of 5 or 500, the need to operate effectively is vital to the ongoing success and development of your organisation. A practical team development course allows people the opportunity to explore the theories behind effective teams and test them in an environment that is different to normal. This change in environment often allows individuals to think differently about the issues raised and allows everybody, regardless of job title, to increase their understanding of themselves and their colleagues in a fun and memorable way.

HOW WE achieve this

Each course is facilitated by fully trained staff who guide the learning through on-going reviews. This is followed by delivering appropriate theories to back up observations made during the programme, and most importantly helping the transfer back to the workplace.

Below is an outline of some programmes that we currently run. We do pride ourselves in creating a programme that is right for you, so if you require something different then please get in touch.

All courses can be adjusted to run for any length of time. We can run 1-5 day courses, weekend or weekday. Skern can also come to you, and run something nearer your premises if time is tight.

The Established Team

The purpose of this programme would be to help team members develop the skills needed to operate effectively within a team. It looks at:

Leading the Team

This course is specifically designed to look at leadership in detail. It has been used extensively to aid the theory learned within college courses such as CMS/DMS and CIPD as it offers a practical understanding of leadership, through real worked examples. It considers:

The skills and styles needed to be an effective leader

The situations that affect the choice of style and the effect that may have on others

Action Centred Leadership and how to address the 3 areas of need

How to coach a team towards success and focus on feedback skills

Understanding the Team

The objective of this programme is to bring all aspects of teamwork together in a way that enables individuals to have a good worked understanding of the theories within the team they work in. It looks at:

How the team can adapt to change and be flexible in their approach

How can the team evolve to become a mature effective operation

Managing transition and encouraging change

Strategic thinking

Managed risk taking

The New Team

This course has been created to address the needs of a team who have just come together. It may be a project team at work, a new company, new members of the company such as apprentices, a new branch, or even a new year group at school or college. Aims of this course may include:

Establishing ground rules

Creating the right atmosphere to develop

Learning about each others strengths and weaknesses

Setting the right framework for the teams future

Understanding how to manage the journey a team goes through

The Motivated Team

The purpose of this event would be to provide your team with a fun, enjoyable and memorable day. We use activities and tasks to develop a sense of achievement and satisfaction by spending time with colleagues in a different environment. This course is designed to strengthen the bond between people and offer a motivating day or two, which should have a good influence when back at work.
