The Adventure Activities Licensing Authority inspects activity centres and other activity providers on behalf of the Department of Education and Skills (DfES). If the Licensing Authority is satisfied that the provider complies with nationally accepted standards of good practice they issue a licence.
Westward Ho! Waves, WInd and Water Scheme

Torridge District Council only endorses organsiations registered on the scheme as suitable, safe operators on Westward Ho! Beach. The authority recommends that these operators be used in preference to those that have not registered.
British Canoe Union
